Printed Shorts

I think these have to be my favorite shorts - they're not only comfortable and feel like fancy pajamas, but they're fun and colorful! I contrasted casual and fancy with the necklace and the plain black t-shirt. In the past few weeks, pieces like a plain white or black shirt have looked great when paired with bright skirts or shorts.

With these printed shorts, I match the flowers I'm sitting next to in my school's courtyard :)

For my prom, which was a few weeks ago, I got a few inches cut off my hair so these photos just remind me of my long hair! I'll post some photos from prom next week :) I was so happy to be able to wear my favorite color, aqua!

Have a beautiful day.

Flowy Floral Skirt

This is one of my favorite skirts - it's colorful, floral, and flowy! I wore it with a bright blue blouse to play up the loose textures, paired it with neutral brown leather sandals, gunmetal accessories, and a denim bag. Guess what? These pictures were taken a few weeks ago. I've since gotten my hair cut... so stay tuned for that!

Soon I won't be able to take advantage of my school's geography for my photos! Graduating is an exciting event and it reminds me of how close college is! I guess now I won't be saying I'm a high school student - I'm a college student now!

Recipe of the Week: Dutch Babies

Sorry for the pause in posts this past week! I've been busy with graduation activities all week. Here's the recipe of the week: Dutch babies!

Fresh off the skillet!

I followed this recipe. The dutch babies taste like pancakes but are lighter. I love how they look when they are cooking - they puff up in the oven!

I ate them with plain Greek yogurt and mangoes, but I think they would also be delicious with melted peanut butter and sliced bananas.

Enjoy!

Recipe of the Week: Strawberry and Cherry Yogurt Muffins

I'd like to introduce a new element to the blog, the Recipe of the Week! In these recipe posts, we're going to be writing about the foods we've cooked, and what worked and what didn't. On Memorial Day, I baked a batch of muffins. Normally baked goods are equated to unhealthy, guilty pleasures, but these healthy muffins were a delightful departure from the norm. They were moist, fruity, and wonderful when warm. I ate them with fresh fruit and Greek yogurt for a snack but I can envision them being a great component of a balanced breakfast.

I'm a strong believer in using natural ingredients, and when I came across this recipe, I decided to give it a try. I made a few modifications based on what I had in my kitchen, substituting all-purpose flour for whole wheat pastry flour, 1 cup of strawberries for the blueberries and apricots, and 3/4 cup of Chobani cherry fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt for 3/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt. For the neutral-flavored oil, I used canola oil and for the unrefined sugar, I used honey. I used fat-free milk instead of skim and they came out fine. If you're looking for a traditional muffin, I wouldn't try this recipe - they tasted more like a strawberry bread (think banana bread, complete with the chunks of fruit). But I appreciated the lightness these muffins offered - it was almost like a sponge cake.

Yum! Looking forward to sharing more recipes!
Have a wonderful day.

On Fashion: Being Yourself

I came across this fabulous video the other day and wanted to share it because it describes my evolving mindset towards not only style, but the way I think and act each day. These lovely ladies really know what they're talking about! Enjoy.

Copycat

With this outfit, I was a copycat...I found an outfit I liked on Pinterest and put my own spin on it!
Here's the original outfit:

I liked how the white shirt, gray sweater, brown belt and tan shoes didn't compete with the cuffed bright green pants. When I saw this pin, my mind immediately imagined a similar outfit. Here's my take:

Outfit details: Sweater: Abercrombie and Fitch / Shirt: Gap / Pants: Gap / Shoes: Sperry / Belt: Vintage / Headband: LOFT / Necklace: Gifted

I like how the outfit turned out. I added a bejeweled headband for a personal touch. This is my favorite headband - it matches almost everything.

Another little piece of inspiration found on Pinterest for your day:
So true! Have an amazing day.

Knotted Shirt

In this outfit, I experimented with prints. Sometimes I'll brainstorm outfit ideas in my head but I'm not sure about them until I try them on. This sleeveless dress needed something to make it more school-appropriate and I debated between wearing this shirt or a chambray shirt. In the end, I chose this blue pinstriped shirt and knotted it on top to go for a polished yet carefree look.

Mixing prints is a lot of fun and it ensures that you're unique! Sometimes, you have to take a step outside your comfort zone to have the most fun :)

Have a great day!
